Black Swan

I just did a movie review on September Dawn but I couldn't resist doing one on this film. Black Swan is a story of an up and coming ballerina, Nina Sayers played beautifully by Natalie Portman, who is facing a psychological breakdown. For the new season, her company is doing a new production called Swan Lake which whoever is cast as the swan queen will have to portray both the innocent white swan and her wicked black double. When Beth played by Winona Ryder is retiring as the current lead, Nina gets the lead in the show. But it becomes very clear at the start its a struggle for her to play the black swan and as the pressure builds Nina slowly starts to fall apart. Her jealously over another ballerina Lily played by Mila Kunis who embodies everything the black swan is and her obsession with being perfect has her slowly descending into complete insanity. Natalie Portman's performance is so genuine and flawless, she kept me completely engrossed the entire film. She loses herself in the role and by the end of the film when she turns into the Black Swan I was just completely blown away. Also Mila Kunis who played Lily, Portman's rival in the film did an amazing job. This movie is so brilliant and artistic. I can't rant and rave enough to do it any justice. Just trust me and go see it!!! No doubt in my mind that Natalie will get an Oscar nomination for this film.
