'There is One in All of Us'

A few nights ago I finally got around to seeing Spike Jonze's movie version of one of my childhood favorites, "Where the Wild Things Are." Like any other book to screen adaptation, things can get lost, and I was, I admit, a little nervous. After watching the trailer a few months ago, it looked good but I wanted to see the book I fell in love with on screen. Luckily I did.
As soon as the lights turned down I was like my five year old self again, fidgeting and bouncing on my seat, eager for it to start. Liz, who I had dragged along with me, just shot me an amused look - suffice to say she wasn't at all excited. It was kind of slow and boring at times but the movie, in its entirety, was amazing. Everything just seemed to fit. Some things were added, naturally, but they worked bringing elements that were unique to the story. But it was the music that makes me give this movie five stars, Karen O's "All is Love" is what completed the film, I adore it.Its the overall feeling at the end that makes you realize how fantastic it is. The movie is purely about escaping, your escaping into another world with Max. Each wild thing has a unique personality derived from Max's own personality and experiences from back home and I liked how they named them all, it made everything seem so much more real and original.
I recommend this to everyone.
