My Mortal Instruments Cast

In a previous post I spoke of Cassandra Clares series: The Mortal Instruments. I recently found out that the first book is being made into a movie. I am beyond stoked. They are some of my favorite books I've ever read, if not my favorite. But like any successful book franchise they end up getting butchered alive by todays movie makers. The Mortal Instruments is no exception although on the brightside the same people who did the Lord of the Rings are taking on the series so at least we can expect some good from it. So then I started thinking about who I would cast as some of the main characters. I'm doing 5 now, then the rest maybe another day depends on how long I can steal myself away from my own writing. Anyway, this is how I see the characters...

WHY: I'm forgetting the fact that Clary is meant to be 15 because in my head the girl is at least 17. Clary was one of the hardest characters for me to pick an actress for because the girl I picture as Clary is nothing like any actresses I can think of. But I like Emily Browning as Clary despite the fact she doesnt bare red hair, but thats something a bottle of hair dye wont fix, plus she has the innocent look about her and looks awesome with Alex Pettyfer.

WHY: This ones easy, its as if Cassandra Clare wrote Jace to look identical to Alex Pettyfer, there is no denying that Alex is the best, and only choice for Jace. I cant honestly see anyone else playing him. I really hope they get him to play Jace.

WHY: I have to admit I would not have thought of Kristopher Turner as Simon if it werent for the million and one Youtube videos that I watched before I read the series, featuring him as the 16 year old. He just screams Simon, plus he even has the glasses!
WHY: In my head I have a real distinct look of how Isabelle should be, the actress Odette Yustman is probably the closet to my image but shes too old, so Kaya is my runner up. She has the sarky nature of Isabelle from her character from Skins, and she easily looks the part.

WHY: Its the same with Alec, Nicholas Hoult doesnt really look like how I visualize Alec, yet he's the best choice. And, of course, with him and Kaya having already played brother and sister they already have the dynamic, plus I can totally seeing him getting all embarrassed in front of Magnus. My other choice would be Gaspard Ulliel. eh scratch Nicholas my choice is Gaspard ;)
